Current life situation (retired, working, volunteering, etc.)

Retired (permanently) from Hewlett-Packard after 31 years of being a package development engineer.  If you bought an HP printer it is very possible I designed the package.  I play a lot of golf, go to fitness center a lot, piddle around the house and do a little day trading in the market.  Goal is to travel about 3 or 4 times a year.

Family history (wife, children, dogs, etc.)

Married first time for 13 years and had two children (daughter and son).  Single but socially active (couples dancing) for about 20 years.  Re-married 11 years ago.  Daughter is a vet, married, living in Oswego, IL, and has two children.  Son is a commercial photographer living in Seattle and is married with no children.  Wife (Yongchong) is originally from China and is currently works as a casino table games dealer.  We have no children together but do have a wonderful Wheaton Terrier dog that is treated like a child

Current hobbies and interests

Couples dancing (swing, country western, night club like cha-cha, salsa and disco).  Golf.  Day trading in stock market.  Small remodel jobs in house.

Claims to fame (books, awards, etc):   

·         Around 1988 I won two first place awards in a national packaging design competition.

·         Use to do a lot of competition country western couples dancing.  At one point in early 90’s was good enough to dance with my partner on stage as part of Reba McIntyre’s concert at the San Diego convention center.

Anything else you want to share:  

Travelled frequently to both Europe and Asia while working for HP so travel is not as important because been there, done that.   I was very fortunate to finally end up in sunny San Diego so living in paradise means I have no desire to move anyplace else.  I HATE COLD.  Our snow is in the mountains where it should be so I can visit if I want to then then LEAVE IT J

·         1973-74 Bodolay Packaging Machinery in Lakeland, FL.   Asst. Sales Manager

·         1974-75 Dale Carnegie Training in Sarasota, FL.  Class former and assistance instructor.

·         1975-76 Kawasaki Motorcycle Dealership.  Partnered with college fraternity brother to start up this business but did not succeed.

·         1976-80 Anco Wiper Blade Co in Gary, IN. Manager of packaging development.

·         1980-81 Volkswagen of America Parts Depot in Valley Forge, PA.  Senior packaging engineer.

·         1981-2012 Hewlett-Packard in San Diego, CA.  Packaging development engineer for entire 31 years.

·         August 31, 2012 Retired from HP.
