Registered Nurse, Teacher, Adjunct Professor Seattle Pacific University,
TTouch Practitioner, Wildlife Rescue Volunteer
Worked as an RN in a hospital in Banning CA on a medical/surgical and pediatric floor for a short time. Then worked in a medical clinic for a dermatologist before returning to school at UCR to earn my teaching credential. Taught first grade, second grade and a first second combination before becoming the reading specialist for the K-5 school where I was teaching. In 1989 moved to Washington state. Subbed in three districts, then became a speech language pathologist assistant and worked at several schools in the Olympia School District. I was then hired as an elementary special education teacher for grades 3,4,5. In order to help a 5th grader who hadn’t learned to read I was paid to learn a specialized reading strategy which I later taught teachers as an adjunct professor through Seattle Pacific University.
Retired in 2007 and loving it. I bowl in two leagues and sub for another. I also volunteer for a wildlife rescue and have had interesting encounters with a variety of animals in this work.
While in California I built a log cabin in the San Bernadino Mountain community of Green Valley Lake.
I recently lost one of my beloved small miniature poodles. She was 13 and a half and was born with hydrocephaly. I learned a lot from her, including becoming a TTouch practitioner. I still have Spirit, a 16 and a half year old mini poodle. She keeps me moving. She is totally blind as of two years ago. In case you haven’t already guessed, animals are my passion.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in August if everything comes together for me to get there.
