Jack Seaman

I got a degree in Communication Arts from Michigan State, and then went to work as a department store buyer in Columbus, Ohio for 4 years. In 1972, I went to Law School at the University of Detroit and graduated in 1975. I clerked for a judge in Washington, D.C. For 2 years, and then moved back to Michigan.

I visited a college friend living in Leelanau County and never left. I worked 4 years as an electrician before starting a career as a lawyer in Traverse City. I work in a small firm and live with my wife and dogs near Cedar, which is about 20 miles out of town. Over the years we have restored (or at least changed) an old farmhouse and enjoy a peaceful life.

I have been involved with several non-profits over the years, and have served as president of a local schoolship program and of the Leelanau Conservancy. At the moment, I’m having a lot of fun serving on the Board of On The Ground, which is a fantastic organization devoted to helping farmers around the world who are developing fair trade communities.

My hobbies include photography, woodworking and music. We are blessed with a lot of great music in this area, and I try to experience as much of it as I can.

Here's a picture of me and my wife Susan at the Sixto Rodriguez concert in Traverse City last month:
