I was married at age 19 and worked at MSU for a few years and then worked at Lansing General Hospital for 19 years, ending up there as the property manager for their off-site medical practices. During that time, I had 2 sons: Jim, who now lives in Ft Wayne with his wife, Wendy and their 7-yr old daughter, Emily; and Kevin, who lives in Lansing with his wife, Julie. They are expecting their first child in September (very exciting!). In 1991, I left Michigan (now divorced) and headed to Florida, ending up in beautiful Sarasota, where I worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as the property manager for off-site medical practices. About 5 years later, I became a full-time realtor. How great it was to become my own boss! After 20 years living in beautiful Sarasota, I decided it was time to get back to family. So in May of last year, I returned to East Lansing and love being back here! It’s really amazing that I do not miss Florida. I think it all has to do with being back with all of my family. I am now a full-time realtor with Tomie Raines, Inc. here in East Lansing. I am still building the business, but with real estate doing so much better, it’s coming along. A few years before I left Florida, I acquired my little maltese-shih-tzu, Mania (pronounded Mahn-ya). She is just so delightful and so much company! One of my goals is to get back to playing golf, which I love! When I was raising my kids in Haslett, I lived on the golf course at Lake of the Hills. Love that game!! Haven’t played in about 6 years now, but it’s on that famous “to-do” list. And now I can take this bio off the “to-do” list!! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and thanks to the committee for all the hard work! |
