Life situation I retired in 2001 after spending 35 years teaching 8th grade math & science…the last 28 years were at MacDonald and Hannah Middle Schools in East Lansing. I never left “home” since arriving in East Lansing in 1953.
Family History I met my wife Sheila at MSU in 1966.Upon my graduation in 1967 we married and our daughter Michelle was born in 1968. Five years later our son David was born. They both graduated from ELHS and MSU. They have blessed us with five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Here is a picture of the “tribe” taken last Spring Break in Florida
Current hobbies Played softball (team mate John Witt) and tennis for many years til the knees wore out. Now my pastime is golf and being Papa to my wonderful grandchildren.
Claims to Fame I was the Algebra teacher for Larry Page, CEO and founder of Google. Unfortunately I haven’t heard from him since he was thirteen… no stocks, job offers, or a simple thank you. Other not so famous students, but endearing none the less, were the offspring of such infamous people as Wayne Bollert, Ed Church, John Hays, Nancy Mead, Al Riegel, Rick Simonds, and Chris Tarpoff.
Education BS (1967) and MA (1972) from MSU
Other things to share Since retirement I have worked part time as a tax preparer, managing an office for Jackson Hewitt and as an AARP tax volunteer. For the past three years I have been a “grandparent” volunteer in the classrooms of three of our grandchildren who live nearby. In recent weeks I have contacted many of you by email and phone…what a treat to reconnect after all these years…great memories emerged and I look forward to August 16-17th
