John K. Renwick

My path, in broad strokes:

1963-1967 Hope College, Holland, MI, attempted a couple of majors until the draft was imminent.

1967-1973 US Navy 1967-1973 (Data Systems Technician, Hawaii, '69-'73). I learned to fly in Hawaii, bought a Piper Cub, which I still fly.

1973-1981 MSU, BA in Math, Systems Programmer at MSU Computer Laboratory, maintaining and improving MSU Computer Lab's operating system software.

1981-1992 Cray Research, Minneapolis, Software Engineer, involved in high-speed network interfaces.

1992-2006 NetStar, Inc., bought by Ascend Communications, bought by Lucent, spun off as Agere Systems, now LSI Logic.

2006: Retired in Minneapolis with my partner Elaine.

2016: Married Elaine Heisterkamp, of Clinton, Iowa.

I have two sons and a daughter, three grandchildren. I'm a flight instructor now, and continuing with flying adventures. I still play cello, and am active in an amateur string quartet.
