Julie Ann Chamberlain / Julie Foust

…checking in to say Hello to All!  Thanks for ALL that you have done to pull this reunion together.  I am alive and well, living in Grosse Pointe and getting back to EL with some frequency as my mother is 95 and still living independently with support from myself and my brothers.  How time flies!

My married name is Foust - Julie Chamberlain Foust - 43 years this summer!  Tony is a retried architect. His focus was major interior architecture project around the US.  Over the years we have been involved with elements of the redevelopment of Detroit.  We are active at the Art Institute and support the Symphony.  For 30 years one of us has been on the Board of the Children's Center, a major non-profit that services children at risk in Wayne County, it is the largest children's mental health agency in Michigan. We have tried to make a difference.

I taught 5th grade 10 years in Warren Consolidated, we lived in Royal Oak at the time.  Then I was home ten year with our children.  University Liggett, an independent school in GP, asked me to interview for a position as 5th grade teacher in 1988. I worked 20 years at ULS teaching 5th grade, retired and have worked the last 5 as Environmental Coordinator at ULS, doing gardens with children on a part-time basis.

We have two children, a daughter Danielle, married and living in Minneapolis/St.Paul.  She is a designer.  Our son lives in Flagstaff, AZ.  He is Mr. Adventure, leading Colorado River Trips, Grand Canyon Hikes and bike adventures in Utah as well as being a National Ski Patrol in winter. Those are our main travel spots.

Years ago we purchased a family home on Lake Charlevoix at Horton Bay. We spend time there year round.  I keep busy with community activities.  I am chairing Junior League of Detroit 100 Anniversary Scholarship Luncheon in May 2014.  I serve on the City of Grosse Pointe Foundation, and The 75th Anniversary Committee of Children's Center.  There are a few other activities but those are the main things currently.

I have a box of items saved from ELHS that could fill a display table at the reunion.  Choir and sports programs, etc.  I haven't opened it in years, I just know it is there.  I look forward to seeing everyone!!  Julie
