I was only at ELHS for my senior year so wasn't as connected as those who grew up in East Lansing. I did enjoy being able to take art with a great dept. there. I went on to the University of Michigan majoring in art. I've retired from many years (who wants to count!) as an early childhood educator at several different Seattle Community College coop preschools. I loved the spontaneous and chaotic classrooms of 3-5 year olds. This year I completed a Certificate of Fiber Art program at the University of Washington. I have a piece in Corpus Illuminata III at the Tangent Gallery in Detroit August 9th& 10th. I also garden at Seattle's first PPatch, Picardo Farms. Summer is busy as I also hike or attend English Country Dance camps. My husband Gordon Swartzman is retired from the University of Washington. He's enjoyed a 5 year collaborative project with other scientists in fisheries in Peru. He has been active in the naturalist study group of Seattle's Mountaineers. My eldest son Aaron is co-director of Umami Dance and a Seattle public school 3rd grade teacher. My younger son lives at home. I also have a delightful grandson Kaveh who enters 1st grade this year. Sorry I'll miss the celebration. Peg |
