April 2026:
Perennial
reunion committee members Kay Searl Beekman, John Potter and Rick
Simonds met recently, possibly discussing early plans for a 70th (or
maybe 65th) class reunion?
March 2026:
Two dozen classmates have answered an email request for donations. We now
have enough pledges to keep this reunion website online well into our
90s.
August 12, 2023:
Our
60-year reunion was a delightful and memorable event for all of the 29
classmates (plus some spouses and other guests) who were there in
person. In addition, we also had classmates who "attended" virtually by
way of a live internet feed on Zoom. You can view the Zoom video
recording by clicking on the first icon under the Links tab, above.
April 4, 2023:
Official
invitations were sent out to the 167 classmates with email addresses on
file. An attached two-page PDF file contains the registration form
along with all the details, including event times and locations as well
as hotel information. This PDF is available to view and/or download
under the Info. tab, or click here.
January 2023:
We now have a date and location for our 60th reunion.
Where: University Club Ballroom
When: Saturday, August 12, 2023

December 2022:
Chris
Tarpoff joined the committee and began working toward finding a
suitable location for the 60th reunion. Stephanie Bennetts Kemp also
joined the committee. Meanwhile our email guru Don Clugston
communicated with the Yes-or-Maybes (with help from Ron Evans on
non-responders), and determined that about 50 classmates would be
attending.
November 2022:
After
62 classmates responded to the February 14th email saying Yes or Maybe,
a core committee (Rick Simonds, Kay Searl Beekman, and John Potter) met
in EL to begin planning our 60th reunion.
February 14, 2022:
An
initial email was sent out to everyone on our classmate email list in
regards to a possible 60th reunion. If you didn't receive yours (e.g.
your email has changed), you can still send a reply; and, even if you do not plan on attending please send a message to elhs1963reunion@gmail.com or donclugston@gmail.com so that we can confirm your status and email address. Here's a copy of the initial email:
September 8, 2018:
Twenty-two
classmates (plus 10 spouses and/or guests) got together at Coral Gables in EL
for an evening of food, drink, and good conversation. Look under the 'More' tab for a group picture that is linked to our repository of photos from the 55th.
April 27, 2018:
Invitations sent out via email, with an attachment containing complete information
plus a reservation form to be printed, filled out, and sent in via US Mail.
April 17, 2018:
Jean and Kay have managed to reserve the back room at one of our favorite
old-time restaurants. (For more information, click here.)
March 31, 2018:
Although nobody volunteered to procure a venue up North, Jean Stanley Collins said she and Kay Searl Beekman are willing
to set up a time and place for the 55th in the greater Lansing area. They have begun looking, and are moving as
quickly as possible.
Early 2018:
About 40-something classmates replied to the initial email; most were positive, saying they would attend. Some
suggested possible venues, including Shelby Robertson's suggestion: Clear Lake Camp,
which Don Clugston is checking into. What's needed now is for somebody to step forward and actually
make the arrangements, etc.
December 15, 2017:
An e-mail was sent out to the nearly 200 classmates with email addresses on file. It is meant to
start a dialog regarding a 55th, and contains some initial thoughts.
November 2017:
A planning committee is currently being formed to possibly implement a 55th reunion!
June 2013:
Seeing
old friends is good for the soul. And now 50 years have passed since
graduation. This reunion gives all of us a very special opportunity to
come together again, reminisce about the good old times,
catch up with what's new,
share some laughs, and generally have a lot of fun. Summer is a great time of
year to be in East Lansing,
when the weather is nice
and the school campus is
green. A tour of the new
facilities is just one of the
events. It has been set up
as the first event Saturday
morning,
after our Friday evening reception. Other events include Golf at Forest
Akers, a tour of the Broad Museum of Art, a Spartan Stadium Tower tour,
and of course there will be a main event on Saturday night: The
Dinner / Dance, with DJ services provided
by one of our very own classmates, who will be
playing our music. The planning committee has
been working for months, arranging events and
we maybe will have some special guests too. A survey regarding interest in various events has
shown that over 100 people would attend the
dinner dance event. But that survey was taken
back
before we had located so many classmates. Working hard behind the
scenes, the reunion team has now found over 99% of our graduating
class! Unfortunately, some of our classmates have passed away. This gives all of us still here that much more reason to
get together while we still can. How many more times can we really expect to have an opportunity like this?
Do you remember the theme song that would play
over the PA system every morning just before it was
time to get to your home room? As you listen to it
one more time (click the play button to the right),
think of it as calling you back to your home room for
this reunion. If you can come to at least some of the
events, this makes the reunion better for everybody.
And whether you can attend or not, please do us all
a favor: Turn in your 50 year profile to Bill Long.

It's fun to see what classmates have done since high
school.
So go ahead and enjoy a virtual reunion by clicking around this reunion
web site. If you link over to facebook, it feels even more like a
virtual reunion. But there's nothing like the real thing in person. To
help get you into the spirit, give a listen to our great anthem, "We're East Lansing"
(You may need to 'Allow Blocked Content' for music samples to play.)
